Waiting is not something we tend to enjoy. I mean, after all, who wants to be in the longest check-out line in the grocery store? And who wants to wait until they turn eighteen to start driving if their parents will let them drive at sixteen? Not me! Our society doesn’t like to wait because we want to do things quickly and efficiently. We look at waiting as a waste of time. But how does God look at waiting? What do the scriptural narratives have to say about waiting? Can waiting be a gift?

By now, all the gifts are wrapped and under the tree. At least, that is what we hope for. But there is one GIFT present given to us all year long, and it can be unwrapped no matter what day it is. When we think of Advent and the coming of Jesus on Christmas Day, it can be easy to believe that it is the end of the story. But really, it was just the beginning.
